A passion turned into a business

Updated: Mar 14, 2019

Thank you for visiting my website. I created this blog to document my journey and adventure as a self taught baker. I only recently discovered that I have this so called talent for baking that I sometimes refer to my "Super Human Power" I truly believe that I inherited my baking skills from my mom and grandmother. I never would have imagined to have started the Kapaa Apple PIe Company as an outlet in dealing with stress. . I work full time as a State Social Worker for the past 30 years. Back in 2016, i took two months of stress leave but the doctor told me that I had to come up with a plan to keep me busy and not be a couch potatoe. Since i enjoy baking, I decided to be creative and start my own side business of baking homemade baked goods as a hobby. I found my mom's old recipes and started using her flakey pie crust recipe in my pies. Soon enough, my baked goods got rave reviews from people who purchased them. I started out slowly by selling my baked goods only to co-workers and people that I know and donating pies to baked sales. The popularity of my baked goods began to spread by Facebook postings and word of mouth. I get a big kick of out people asking me where is my bakery because they heard how delicious my baked goods are. I do hope to devote more time baking when I retire from my full time job in a couple of years. Until then, the orders I've received keeps my busy. Thank you for your support and encouragement.
